Distinction recognizes hospitals for offering the best possible treatment for stroke patients
Las Vegas (April 4, 2014) — After undergoing on-site evaluations and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care, the Sunrise Health System of Hospitals – Sunrise Hospital, MountainView Hospital and Southern Hills Hospital – have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for re-certification as Primary Stroke Centers. Sunrise Health was the first system of Certified Primary Stroke Centers in Las Vegas.
In order to receive re-certification, the Sunrise Health System hospitals were evaluated by The Joint Commission — the leading healthcare accreditation and certification organization in the United States — using standards for stroke from the recommendations published by the Brain Attack Coalition and American Stroke Association. This includes an assessment of compliance with consensus-based national standards, effective use of primary stroke center recommendations and clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care and performance measurement and improvement activities.
